Download Android 4.4 Stock Apps On Your Phone Now


Finally, Google have taken the wraps off Android KitKat 4.4 along side the unveiling of Nexus 5.

Whenever a new operating system gets released, hackers, coders and programmers start tinkering with the OS in order to extract the juice out of it. 

In the case of Android KitKat 4.4, as its often the case with other Android OS, the stock apps like Calendar, Camera, Clock, Email, Gallery, Hangouts, Keyboard were extracted and repackaged in its apk format so that it's easily installed. 

What you get after installation is the same stock apps that came  with nexus 5 however you need to be careful to do a backup as some of the stock apps would replace do old one and may still not work.

Since, Android 4.4 KitKat is the very new and supports only few devices, there is no guarantee that this will work on your Jelly Bean smartphone. 


If you indeed downloaded and installed these stock apps, please feel free to tell us your device type and what you noticed or if it worked flawlessly for you.

 Also, if you don't know how to install the apks in the downloaded file, follow this procedures. 

 1. The downloaded file is in zip format and you need to extract into a folder using win zip or any zip extractor you prefer. 

 2. Copy extracted apk files to your SD card or phone memory.

 3. Go to Settings, Security and make sure installation of apps from unknown sources is enabled. 

 4. Using File Explorer navigate to the folder you copied your apk files and click on the files for installation. 

 Installing Google Home (for the most occurrence, its not working well; it force close, so you may skip this) 

 5. To install the new Google Home, install the Prebuiltgmscore apk first, then velvet.apk and finally GoogleHome.apk. 

 6. Press Home button to go back to your Home screen and select the new Google Home. 

 7. Enable Google Now by touching and holding an empty Home screen and tap on the settings icon. 

 8. Tap on the toggle button and say 'OK Google' and you are good to go.

      Extract the stock apps to a folder and copy them into your SD card or phone memory space,

      Installation of apps from unknown sources should be enabled. Then go to the directory the files were copied to and install apk by clicking and installing.

      F8 is better if you need more screen size to perform computation. Also it comes with a stylus pen. If you dont mind the 5 inch of the A+ you can go for that too.
      So basically, they are almost the same. However, price differs.
      Tecno A+ is about 34k and Tecno A2 (F8) is about 40k depending on the store.

    Akin I must confess you are very versatile as I see you on almost every important, informative and educating blog site with regards to tech and gardgets. Pls I need to know if it would be a better choice for me to get the infinix alpha marvel. Thoug tecno F8 would be a second choice cos I searched YouTube and nairaland but it was very obvious no one had got a hands on experience on it so that has kind off left me in the dark as regards real user experience. Thanks

      Innocent, I have used the Infinix Alpha Marvel and have had the opportunity to play with tecno F8. They are both excellent devices. The Marvel feels very premium compared to the F8, sharper and with a powerful processor & GPU. F8 is a phablet just like Samsung note II with stylus pen. Its great especially if you like a bigger screen and you don't bother with its large size which may prevent you from using it in a more rowdy and public area.
      finally, they are both going to function as a smartphone equal to the task

    pls when you install the 4.4kitkat stock app on ur infinix alpha x570, and u go to your about phone in ur settings will the os show an andriod 4.4kitkat or still the 4.2 that cam with it?

      It will still show 4.2 since its not an os upgrade. Its just certain apps that you installed

And pls akin.i watched ur video about the infinix alpha x570 and saw its proximity to unlock and other proximities thats by swiping ur hand without touching the screen. I wanted to know if the tecno phantom a3 can do that too.

      The front page of thos blog site carries the comparison between X570 and A3. A3 don't have all the proximity features Alpha has. Only through certain softwares installed will it become possible

How To Unbrick Tecno F7 Smartphone

About a week ago, a friend rooted his Tecno Phantom A smartphone. He was so excited about the endless possibilities to customize his device so he kept installing a lot of applications that caught his attention unaware of the dangers some apps can create on rooted smartphones. Finally, he installed an application called Font Changer Lite and that was when it all happened. After installing this app, his phone attempted to reboot and instead of booting normally, the phone froze at the Tecno logo. It wasn’t going passed that state. He couldn’t boot into his phone.
