Facebook Acquires Whatsapp For $16 Billion

A rumor long ago was that Facebook and Google were bidding to buy Whatsapp for an unquoted price. The rumor was later dispelled and the matter became of the past. However, this time, Facebook have agreed to acquire Whatsapp, the social messaging company/app for $16 Billion: this is not a rumor as it was confirmed by Facebook. According to Facebook, the $16 billion will include $4 billion in cash and about $12 billion worth of Facebook shares. The agreement also provides for an additional $3 billion in restricted stock, to be granted to WhatsApp's founders and employees, that will vest over four years once the deal closes and also see the CEO of Whatsapp joint the board of directors at Facebook. To date, this is the largest buy over that Facebook has done - the deal with Instagram ($715.3 million) doesn't even come close. The number of social media platforms and apps are inexhaustible thy are so much you get confused on which one to really buy into. However, the likes of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are easy to just buy into due to their popularity among other things. How BBM Helped Rescue A Little lost Girl

It is well known that bad news travel faster than any other news, but we also know that news of missing persons travel even faster when sent through social media especially through BlackBerry Messenger Broadcast channel. The story is that of a little girl called Alma who went missing in Jakarta when she went to the National Monument Park in Central Jakarta along with her parents and aunt. Apparently, the aunt allowed Alma to wonder off on her own which result in the 7 year old girl not able to find her way back in the crowded central Jakarta park. Alma went missing for four days but was found by Aja Suharja , a business man who rents bicycle. Suharja could locate the little girl's family so he took her home with his family for four days. The police said that Suharja didn't realise that it was most best to contact the police and notify them of a missing persons. YouTube Owners Launch Instagram & Vine Rival Called MixBit

YouTube founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen today launches MixBit which is like Instagram and Vine. Instagram and Vine have gained considerable popularity as a media sharing platform over time. Instagram is owned by Facebook and Vine by Twitter.  YouTube, which is also a media platform have decided to launch its own social app called MixBit which offers the similarities as its rivals. MixBit allows you to record and share your videos with friends. Like YouTube uploaded videos, even after uploading a video, one can still edit video to suit more taste. Once video is uploaded, it can be shared with Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and also fellow MixBit pals. Like other rival platform, MixBit is available for iOS and on web at www.mixbit.com . Android version of the App would be available soon. Will MixBit thrive and get very popular like YouTube is? That is a question only time can answer.
