BlackBerry have released an update to their popular BBM app for Android and iPhone. According to Jeff Gardaway, head of product and brand marketing for BBM, BBM now includes a new Find Friends feature that allows you to discover people you know that are also using BBM and invite them to your BBM contact list, from within the app.  The Find Friends feature will detect which contacts in your smartphone’s contact list are already using BBM, and allow you to quickly send them an invite to join your BBM contact list. For those contacts that don’t yet have BBM, you can invite them to download the app with an email or SMS invite. This is not a bad development and update from BlackBerry. Occasionally, I like to go through the Apple app store looking for new apps that stand out. Sometimes, the search isn't too yielding and sometimes, the search is worth it. Today, I happen to stumble upon an app called Confide: Your off-the-record Messenger app created by Confide Inc. What can Confide do for you? It lets you send messages that are can't be spoofed by someone that is not intended. If the original recipient receives the message and reads it, the message gets deleted automatically. This means that the message isn't stored at all. Furthermore, someone can't do a screenshot of the message. If an attempt to do a screenshot is made, the sender would be notified immediately and the message scrambled. Message sent according to the maker are private and encrypted, which means that its not susceptible to sniffing. All kinds of messaging apps are out there all struggling to catch the attention of a lot of folks. Few ones however are doing pretty well. Nokia Lumia users can now have folders on their home screen just like other smartphones from other devices do.  Naturally, all apps are arranged on the home screen without the ability to put these apps in folders for organisation and cleanness sake. However, Nokia has now made the ability to get folders on their handsets by releasing a dedicated app to achieve that. Initially, this ability was reserved for Nokia Lumia 1020 and Lumia 925 when the Lumia Black software update is installed.
