Main Reason Why BBM Release Was Paused

As soon as my friend like other 1.1 million people loaded BBM for Android on his Android phone, he knew it was what he wanted and not Whatsapp. He was able to ping his other phone for about 5 minutes before it stopped working. It was the leaked version after all and that has caused troubles for BlackBerry and consequently no BBM for Android yet.   Their is a New update from the BlackBerry company  talking about the release of BBM for both android and iPhone. They said that on the day of the release their was an older version of BBM for andriod that was released on the same day that the BBM should have been officially released and that older version had caused an overload on the system that eventually made them to pause BBM for both iPhone and android.  Andrew Bocking said in a statement that ' this "fixing"will take time and I don't anticipate launching this week' sorry guys but it looks your gonna have to wait'. According to Andrew, the problem cau...

BBM For Android and iPhone Not Releasing This Week

Looks like the wait for BBM to totally go cross platform will take longer than anyone expected. This was the case when Andrew Bocking, Head of BBM at BlackBerry released a statement on the Inside BlackBerry Blog which explains the problems that occurred on Saturday's launch date, and steps that are currently being taken to fix it. See his statement below "Last week, an unreleased, older version of the BBM for Android app was posted on numerous file sharing sites. We were aware of an issue with this unreleased version of the BBM for Android app. This older version resulted in volumes of data traffic orders of magnitude higher than normal for each active user and impacted the system in abnormal ways. The version we were planning to release on Saturday addressed these issues, however we could not block users of the unreleased version if we went ahead with the launch. We attempted to address the problems caused by the unreleased version throughout the day on Sa...

BlackBerry Sold To Fairfax For $4.7 Billion

Most of the media was busy bashing and writing about the 4500 job cut  and the almost $1 billion loss being the last nail in the coffin for BlackBerry.  Not to even talk about the failed launch of BBM for Android and iPhone last week, today the company shook things up yet again when it officially announced that its going private and it's shares would be sold for $9 each.  The rumours of Prem Watsa and his firm, Fairfax Financial, leading a bid to take BlackBerry private have proven to be true and confirmed especially after a statement that was released by Wasta below. "We believe this transaction will open an exciting new private chapter for BlackBerry, its customers, carriers and employees. We can deliver immediate value to shareholders, while we continue the execution of a long-term strategy in a private company with a focus on delivering superior and secure enterprise solutions to BlackBerry customers around the world" . The board of directors at ...

BBM FOR ANDROID SUFFERS A MAJOR SETBACK

This post is quite long overdue to put you guys in the know on what is happening with BBM for Android which should have dropped to Google Play Store since 12noon Nigerian time. However allegedly due to some issues with the Android version which includes server problems, fake BBM names and apks surfacing on the Google Play Store, the BBM for Android suffered a major set back. It would be important to note that the iPhone version of the same app is already making its way into all Apple App Store world wide. It was first seen in Apple App World Australia and then move to other countries App Store and its already available in India. Apparently in no time, it should be released worldwide by tomorrow Nigerian time. Still, no sign of the Android version of BBM...whew! Even the leaked version is having a hard time displaying PINS and logging in people. This may be due to server overload. Anyway, you guys should hang in there, surely it will make its way to Google Play stor...

Samsung Nigeria Wants BBM for Android Before Others

Samsung Nigeria really wants to have the BBM for Android first on their devices before any other Samsung devices in the world and of course other Android devices.  To support  the claim above, Samsung Nigeria (@samsungmobileng) made in a tweet late yesterday that Samsung would be getting the BBM app for Android three months ahead of other Android devices when it gets released on Friday 20th September as seen in the image below. This tweet quickly raised some questions and got some folks confused and even made it look like BlackBerry is playing shady games. However, on contacting the folks from BlackBerry, it was stated that BBM is not going to be released exclusively to any brand of device but would be available publicly to all Android devices for download in the Google Play Store. Specifically in BlackBerry's statement: "The excitement around the upcoming BBM launch on iPhone and Android devices seems to know no bounds. Although I’m a big fan of this...

BBM for Android and iPhone Wrong Assumptions

What we do know is that BBM will become available for Android devices and iPhone come September,  in fact it's in matter of days.  Sequel to this, many wrong assumptions have been made regarding BBM for Android and iPhone and we are here to state the facts and dispel these wrong assumptions. 1. Some folks believe that BBM for Android will be released to Samsung Android devices first and later to other Android smartphones in days to follow. This assumption above is totally false.  BBM for Android will be released to Google Play Store and available for download to all compatible Android devices at the same time. 2. I have also read and heard comments of guys saying BBM will be available for $0.99 at the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. This is totally false. No such announcement from BlackBerry. According to BlackBerry, BBM for Android and iPhone would be available free of charge at the respective app stores. 3. Yet another fallacy is t...
