Sony Unveils Xperia Z1 Compact at CES 2014

CES 2014 is booming as usual, activities are on the rise like the lights flickering on a router, everything is in full gear. Every tech company is unveiling and showing off one thing or the other.

Sony isn't taking the back seat either and it has shown off the Sony Xperia Z1 compact smartphone which is an almost replica of its flagship phone Sony Xperia Z1.



The Xperia Z1 compact has all the features of the current flagship except that the battery is reduced to 2300mAh and the screen display is 4.3 inch and the display is 720p.

The Sony Xperia Z1 compact which would be released soon after the CES2014 event has a 720p 341PPI 4.3 inch IPS display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2GHz Quad core processor, Adreno 330 GPU with 2GB RAM. Furthermore, the camera is 20.7MP Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization, auto focus, LED flash, 2MP front-facing.

Video camera can be recorded at 1080p and  30fps and the storage is 16GB internal memory with an external memory card reader that can support up to 64GB memory card. Connectivity features like NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi dual band, AGPS, GLONASS are also embedded.

Other features like dust proof and water proof is also retained on the Xperia Z1 compact.

Finally, operating system on the device is Android 4.3 upgradeable to 4.4 shortly after it becomes available. Also, the battery is at 2300mAh which should be enough for a phone of that screen type.

Pricing details is not known as at the time of this writing and Sony have said that price tag would be declared and made available after the CES 2014 event.

Obviously, the trade off by Sony on the Xperia Z1 compact is very minute and nice, this would also be reflected in the price.
