Latest Airtel and Etisalat BIS Data Plans That Work For Your Android, iPhone Smartphones and Tablets

Effective 3rd of December 2013, Airtel BIS plans will stop working on non BlackBerry phones.
You are advised not to subscribe such plans in your non BlackBerry phone(s)

It has being observed that as smartphones get better, offering outstanding screen resolution, better camera power and faster modems so also is the data consumed by these smartphones also rising. It may also be due to the what one can achieve with the smartphone when connected to the internet. For example, visiting Facebook and uploading an image that is huge in size, record videos and upload to YouTube, make purchases online, communicate constantly with emails.
The need for more data on our smartphones is surging dramatically but it seem as though Nigerian telecoms network don't want their consumers to have an affordable plan that will cater for their Internet data needs except for BlackBerry devices which enjoy such reasonable prices for data plan.
Anyway, user now use Airtel BlackBerry plans which are affordable and meet needs on their Android, iOS and Windows Phone smartphones.

As of these writing only Etisalat and Airtel allow you to hotspot your Internet data without removing from your calling credit. So if you are the type that has a Blackberry device with HotSpot capability you can also use your Etisalat and Airtel hotstpot on your phone and share to your devices like tablet, Android & iOS phone and your PC. Etisalat BIS codes are shown below.
While some have argued that they are able to use GLO, Etisalat and MTN BIS on their Android, , iOS and Windows Phone smartphones and tablets, it may require additional tweaking and settings of your phone and its not guaranteed to work.
However, if you are successful in making other telecoms BIS apart from Airtel work for you, we would appreciate if you share how you go it to work on your phone or tablet.
If you still want to subscribe to GLO, MTN and Etisalat BIS plans then the best thing is to visit their web sites to know the latest package codes as these networks tend to change their rates and codes at times. MTN BIS have been reported to work on Android of recent (Sept. 25th 2013)

ReplyDeleteAm not sure if Etisalat will work. Haven't test it directly, only on hotspot. For iOS users, airtel bis will work. Aside that I don't know of any other around it.

DeleteGabby, there are little mishaps when you want to use the Airtel BIS on droids. But here is what you do.....load a 100 naira Airtel recharge and subscribe for 10MB data bundle, after doin so, it'll activate your Airtel BIS that you've already subscribed. Hope it works. Enjoy.

All you need to do is recharge your airtel line, next you subscribe to any BIS plan of your choice. Finally, transfer the SIM card into the Android device and you would start browsing. Still activated it yesterday for someone, so it's currently working.

ReplyDeleteGlo bis don't work on Androi or iOS devices. You could try using droidvpn or troidvpn to see if it would force it to start browsing

I have my mtn sim in it but was informed that there's no bbm plan for it unless I ues the normal mobile data which is exhausting. Will I have to sub on a Airtel sim on a blackberry before transfering the sim to the droid? Thanks
ReplyDeleteNormal Internet plan, WiFi will work for your bbm on Android. You can subscribe on any one, bb or Android. Just be sure your sim isn't one of those SIM that don't SUPPORT Internet when BBM is subscribed to on Android. Do a one day bis plan to be sure it works on your Airtel

DeleteThe etisalat BIS plan works on hotspot only when you do you daily subscription on top of your BIS. It stops when the day runs out. So you will have to do any 10MB the next day again.

ReplyDeleteSubscribe to airtel bis on your phone and it will start working. Internet Settings are automatic when you put the sim into yhe phone so you may not need to do any extra settings. If after subscribing it doesn't work, recharge 10mb daily data bundle to kick start the internet

ReplyDeleteDo the 10mb one day data bundle on the SIM to activate the bis bundle to start working on your Android phone. Not all sims work straight away with this airtel bis bundle for Android. So try the above trick and see if it's working for you.

its works, just do the BIS stuff, then resubscribe with Airtel 10mb to power your data cap! thats it!!!!

DeleteThe Etisalat bis android isn't working anymore. It has been stopped since 18th of december I think.
Some Airtel BIS packages still work on some selected SIMs for Android and iPhone.
I really don't know how these SIMs, mine included and some others I know still work, but it does. Most especially old Airtel sim cards.
pls i can't browse with my etisalat, since i sub on it.. and that was *449*3# it enable to browse on it...

ReplyDeleteAirtel already disabled BIS working on non-blackberry phones. The only way it will work is if you have one of those special airtel lines like mine that is 10yrs old and works with bis on phone regardless then it would work. Only a handful of those sims still exist. But on a majority scale, airtel bis won't work on non bb phones
